About the role
We're looking for a technical leader to take over the existing systems, run a small technical team and write code hands-on. Later you'll plan and carry out a phased modernisation of the CRM.
We're a product company in performance marketing, affiliate and e-commerce. We build our own CPA platform, CRM/ERP and media buying tools.
Our systems process leads and orders, talk to advertisers and fulfilment partners, and handle financial calculations, telephony and business automations.
Stack and infrastructure
- PHP 7.4–8.5, gradually moving to newer versions
- Our own modular PHP framework
- MariaDB, plain SQL without an ORM
- Redis, Memcached
- JavaScript/jQuery
- PHPUnit, PHPStan, Puppeteer
- Separate Node.js/WebSocket services
- Infrastructure: Debian, nginx, PHP-FPM, MariaDB Galera, Cloudflare, Zabbix. Telephony: FreeSWITCH/WebRTC
What you'll do
- Take over the code, architecture, integrations and operating procedures from the current technical specialist
- Understand how CPA, CRM, buying tools and the shared framework connect
- Deliver complex changes yourself and troubleshoot production incidents
- Work with financial logic, event reprocessing, reconciliations and protection against duplicate operations
- Break down tasks, estimate effort, explain risks and dependencies to the business
- Run the PHP developer's work: task allocation, code review, building independence and cover
- Set up reproducible testing, releases and rollbacks; grow CI/CD together with DevOps
- Keep documentation up to date and coordinate across development, infrastructure and telephony
- Prepare a phased CRM modernisation plan: module boundaries, data migration, compatibility and safe cut-over
Business priorities are agreed with the owner and process owners. The Lead owns technical decisions, estimates and delivery quality.
Also part of the role
- Handle first-line technical requests and decide whether a developer, DevOps or telephony specialist is needed
- Carry out routine app operations yourself using documented procedures
- Maintain release, rollback and restore runbooks together with DevOps
- Make sure routine releases and app diagnostics can be done by more than one person
Deep Galera administration, cluster recovery after a serious failure, OS migrations and complex telephony setup are handled by a dedicated specialist with the Lead involved.
First tasks
- Take over critical systems, map dependencies and risks, check release and restore procedures. After the review, propose a well-reasoned modernisation plan
Who we're looking for
- 5+ years of commercial PHP development, including recent hands-on work on production systems
- Experience with a large codebase you didn't write, legacy code and a custom framework
- Strong PHP beyond what any particular framework gives you
- Strong SQL: transactions, locking, indexes, query optimisation and schema changes
- Experience with API integrations, webhooks/postbacks, background processing, retries and idempotency
- Experience with money-critical operations: balances, accruals, payments or similar
- Hands-on experience gradually modernising a live system and migrating data
- Automated tests, Git, code review, troubleshooting from logs
- Understanding of Linux, nginx and PHP-FPM well enough to diagnose the app and work with DevOps
- Able to document decisions, share knowledge and discuss technical matters with the business
Laravel/Symfony experience is fine if you're confident with plain SQL and code outside those frameworks.
Core DevOps skills (required)
- Confident in Linux over SSH: filesystem, permissions, processes, services and system logs
- Understand the nginx → PHP-FPM → app → MariaDB chain and can tell which layer a problem is in
- Deploy and roll back the app yourself following an agreed procedure
- Handle environment config, variables and secrets without exposing them in code or logs
- Set up and troubleshoot cron, background jobs and app processes
- Basic diagnostics of Redis/Memcached, database connections and resource usage
- Understand DNS, TLS certificates and Cloudflare well enough to check app availability
- Work with monitoring and alerts: assess impact, do first-line diagnosis and escalate
- Understand backup and restore; verify the app works after a restore together with DevOps
- Experience setting up or improving CI/CD for PHP apps
Nice to have
- CPA/adtech, e-commerce, CRM/ERP, logistics or contact centres
- Node.js/WebSocket and telephony integrations
- Crypto payments, TRON/Ethereum
- Ad platform, Cloudflare and domain registrar APIs
- Experience leading a small technical team
Work format
- Full-time, remote, 10:00–18:00 Kyiv time
